Cinematic Wedding Film vs Highlight Reel: Which Should You Book?
Almost every couple wants a film, but few realise there are two very different products hiding behind that word. Choosing the right one saves money and avoids disappointment.
What each one actually is
A cinematic film is a long-form edit, usually twelve to twenty minutes, that follows the day in order with real audio — vows, ulu, laughter, the priest's mantras. A highlight reel is a three to five minute montage set to music, built for Instagram and for relatives who will not sit through a longer cut.
- Cinematic film — long, chronological, real sound, emotional
- Highlight reel — short, music-led, perfect for social media
- Teaser — sixty seconds, delivered within a week
- Full ceremony edit — the raw ritual, unedited, for the family archive
Which one lasts
Music-led reels age quickly because the track does. A film with your grandmother's voice in it does not. If your budget only stretches to one, and your family values the ritual, choose the film and ask for a short teaser separately.
A reel shows people what your wedding looked like. A film reminds you what it felt like.
What we recommend for Raiganj weddings
For a full Bengali wedding with three days of rituals, we usually suggest a cinematic film plus a teaser. Add the highlight reel only if you plan to share heavily online. Most couples who book both end up watching the film far more often.
Whichever you choose, make sure the audio is recorded separately. Camera microphones in a crowded pandal are unusable.
